Pregnant woman strangled in her sleep

August 27, 2008 11:44 by Dad2B

My wife almost became that headline last night. I understand she might be uncomfortable during her pregnancy but why not show a bit of compassion for the other person with whom she shares her bed - that would be me in this case.

Even though I don't condone such behavior it pretty simple to understand why the leading cause of death among pregnant women is homicide. It's not because we are trying to hide some mysterious affair and/or wanting out of a perfectly good marriage, it's from your constant tossing and turning in the night, in a perfectly comfortable bed, without much consideration to the body next you.

So I would like to write a letter to my wife because she can't seem to understand my glares and snarls in the night after she rudely awakes me.

Dear wife,
Please just close your eyes and drift away like I do. It's that easy. But if for some reason you awake in the night there is no need to create a ripple effect in my direction during your repositioning period. We only have a bit over a month to go before the baby drops so let's just enjoy the quiet before the storm.

Sincerely,
XOXOX
The other warm body in the bed

PS: Try using your whisper voice as well at 3 in the morning and not your day time voice.

A note to all of you who think I'm a jerk.  PISS OFF! I'm tired and cranky!

Wow! You have got a lot of nerve! This coming from a man, You don't know what it's like to be pregnant. End of discussion. You should be kissing her feet for carrying that child for you! You sound like a very selfish man! Why don't you move your ass to the couch if you're that upset with her. I am in total shock these words would even come out of your mouth!

Boo-Hoo! I feel sorry for the sperm donor in your case. I recommend two things to improve the quality of your life. First, get a sense of humor and second, lose the baby phat.

I guess you didn't get the irony in my original post. BigMomma (my wife and co-author to the site) did and she totally got what I was trying to say and gave me a big high-five or as we like say, 'knuckles."

Just to be clear, the point of the post was to bring awareness to the fact that homicide is the leading cause of death among pregnant women.

I invite you to submit your own post to BabyCrunch as a guest contributing author. You can write about anything relating to pregnancy and/or near the general theme of the site and I promise to post it. It can even be about insensitive couch surfing fathers-to-be. Send it to submit@babycrunch.com.

Sincerly, that insensitive guy

well I guess we didn't get it then. Your wording is quite harsh to a pregnant reader. Pregnancy is a tough thing to go through & really in all honesty I don't think you should have posted such a thing to be meant along the lines of a 'joke' but it is your blog & you can choose to write what ever you like. I was just voicing my opinion on your experiences. I think I will keep my posting to my own blog but thank you for the offer!
